Major fire accident at Puttingal Temple in Kerala

A major fire accident at the Puttingal temple in Kollam has taken place this early morning.

Reports state that more than 80 people are reported dead and another 200 injured. The fire accident took place around 3:30 AM this morning. Officials believe the accident might have been caused due to the firecrackers that were piled together for the temple celebrations. A fire might have caused a spark among the pile and eventually lead to a major fire accident.

Police officials are trying to rescue people who are stuck underneath the debris.

The building of the Devaswom board has been collapsed due to the impact amounting to an increase in the death toll.

The injured have been rushed to the local hospital while the severely injured have been transferred to the Thiruvananthapuram.

Government officials clearly state that:

"We have warned the temple authorities to restrict the use of fireworks." 
The fire has been brought under control at around 6:40 AM. Kerala's Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be at the site by noon. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making arrangements to visit the site by the end of the day as well.

Home Minister Chennithala has asked DGP to rush to the site and enforce the rescue efforts.
