CSK, RR suspended for 2 years from playing IPL.

It was in 2013 when the betting and spot-fixing scandal in IPL emerged and it took 2 years for the Supreme court of India to pass the verdict. Justice Lodha committee was appointed in January by the SC and finally the committee decided to suspend Chennai Super Kings(CSK) and Rajasthan Royals(RR) from playing IPL for 2 years. The committee also banned Gurunath Meiyappan and the co-founder of Rajasthan royals Raj Kundra for life. Delhi police had already arrested S Sreesanth, Ashok Chandila and Ankeet Chavan on charges of spot-fixing. Gurunath Meiyappan and Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh were also arrested for their involvement in a betting and spot-fixing.

Not only the franchise but also the players, coaches and the team staff will be affected with this decision. Now that the 2 teams are suspended, players of both the teams are waiting for BCCI(Board of Contol for Cricket in India) to make a decision. As for now, everything is in a state of limbo. BCCI could either re-auction the players or transfer them to a new franchise. It is also not possible to make IPL viable with just 6 teams. It is also possible that 2 teams may be included in IPL for just 2 years.

On Twitter, former BCCI president Inderjit Bindra said: "A historic and landmark order. Beginning of the process of cleansing Indian cricket. I do hope that BCCI learns the right lessons."
Former Indian captain, Bishan Singh Bedi said: "Justice Lodha committee after Justice Mudgal findings comes as breath of fresh air, but only just! There's more much for Cricket to breathe afresh!"
After all Cricket is a Gentleman's game and should be played with right spirit and this verdict certainly helps Cricket from being stained.
