Brendon McCullum. Is he retiring from Test cricket???
Yes.
But What if I ask you, Does he really need to retire???
You would certainly respond with a big "No".
But, it has happened and it's all settled for Baz in the game of cricket. He is currently playing his final test match. But that's not it. McCullum inked his name into the record books with a whirlwind century in just 54 balls. Along with that, he also surpassed Adam Gilchrist's most sixes in test cricket. McCullum now holds the record with 106 sixes to his name.
The world wouldn't be wishing him to bid farewell, at least not after seeing this innings from the special Baz. Spectators who came to watch were treated to this special from Baz, which they would remember for long.
The 1st day of the 2nd Test at Hagley Oval, Christchurch enjoyed a day of an aggressive sport from the kiwis. The hosts ended their innings at 370 after McCullum's quickfire century and half-centuries from Corey Anderson and Wicketkeeper BJ Watling. The match is evenly poised as the visitors are now placed at 57 for a loss of one wicket.
Nathan Lyon was the pick of the bowlers bagging three while Josh Hazlewood, James Pattinson and Jackson Bird picking up two each. Mitchell Marsh also picked up a wicket to his name.
Few of the records that Brendon McCullum holds:
1) Only player to play 100 consecutive test matches since debut
2) Only captain of Newzealand to take them into a World Cup Final.
3) Most number of runs in T20's
4) Only player to score 2 T20I centuries
5) Only Newzealand to score a triple century in test cricket
6) Most number of Sixes in test cricket
We have always loved watching him play and we will continue to love him for the joy he is leaving with us.
